They may update it further, such that it works. I even confirmed the link with "open in sheets" that has the correct view is the same URL as the one that doesn't they are just opened an hour apart. So I think they are changing functionality as we speak. When I first did this at 1:00, up at the top was an "open with" dialog box that included "Google Sheets" - and using that opened it with the older(?) sheets program, which worked (with the caveats listed in the OP.) So I was going to recommend you just do that, but.īefore I could type that up, I left for an hour to pick up my daughter from school, and now "Open With" no longer includes "Google Sheets." So my advice was an hour out of date and already useless. Which isn't useful at all, unfortunately. You can click through the image to the cells, and the data is there, but it isn't displayed. When I first opened the link, it opened in a sheets-like interface that has the behavior you describe: it shows up "blank" (only the background image showing.) It looked like Google was attempting to add the ability to have background images, but didn't quite get it. Very strange - Google seems to have changed sheets, and then changed it again while I was investigating it. If you're making a character this weekend, go ahead and give it a try. Google Sheets is also noticeably slower.įor a sample, this is the spreadsheet for the decker archetype from the book, and here is the pdf character sheet that it generates for the same character. Specifically, you'll have to delete the background images on the printable sheet, and manually set print areas on the printable sheet (Google Sheets doesn't support the custom print ranges that make this automatic in the other two programs.) And it won't look as nice, as Google tends to re-size things and place the drop-down arrows in different places. It works in Google Sheets, too, except for some visual and print issues. It's made in LibreOffice, which is free and available almost anywhere.
